The rigorousness of the world's unemployment situation poses the problem of establishing a scientific labor force market index system and of collecting data of, monitoring and managing the labor force market in front of all countries. To satisfy the urgent demand of all countries for the information about labor force market, the International Labor Organization worked out the main index system of international labor force market in 2000 to enhance the measuring of the labor force market and the comparison among nations. Under this situation, it is very necessary to establish a system of labor force market index that is suited to the conditions of our country and that can help make comparisons with the international labor force market index system. This article explores and studies the problem. The article starts from the defining of the concepts of labor force market and index system, and then discusses the development and present conditions of our country's labor force market and that of index system. Next, by comparing with the international labor force market index system, finds out the defects of our labor force market index system. On this foundation, according to the general guiding thought and principle of establishing the index system and in the light of the traditional and realistic conditions of our country's labor statistics, establishes our own labor force market index system to satisfy the demand for macroscopic decision of the government and for comparing with all the other countries.
