India conducted nuclear test in 1998,which brought great influence to the peace of both the South Asia and even the whole world. So to study Indian nuclear policy is an pressing task now. This text analyzes and discusses Indian nuclear policy from three aspects. First, expounds the evolvement-course of Indian nuclear policy since its independence; gives a minute review to the attitudes of all leaders in Indian history. And then points out that Indian nuclear policy of all its governments is not an expedient measure of certain clan or leader, but is one of its core national policy. Second, from the side why India has developed nuclear weapons for so long as half one century, discusses the factors that force and restrict India to develop nuclear weapons. And emphatically analyzes the reason why India didn't conduct nuclear test immediately after China did from the aspect of technology. Third, analyzes the influence that the act of India conducting nuclear test gives to the security of South Asia. The text argues that Indian nuclear policy hasn't yet finalized the design entirely now after its conducting nuclear test, and although now Indian nuclear policy has already brought some negative influence in fact, the trend of its development needs more observation. Because if Indian nuclear arsenal in the future keeps to be in a certain scope and India follows the Five Principle of Peaceful Co-existence indeed, this act of India is good to break the nuclear monopoly and nuclear superstition, and to promote the development of the world multi-polarization.
