The tide of e-commerce is sweeping across the whole world at present, its development makes the traditional commerce break through the restrictions of time and region progressively. The impact of information revolution on mankind will not be second to the one that industrial revolution brings. We could not stand by but take part into it rapidly. The information foundation of China is comparatively weak. And there are too many restrictions for the further development of our country's e-commerce, among which the backwardness of payment is an important aspect. This thesis probed into several kinds of advanced electronic means of payment, such as electronic currency, the electronic cheque, bank card, etc. from the technology, security, and management respects, and put emphasis on the influences brought by the electronic cash to the finance and currency system.This thesis is divided into five parts altogether. The first part summed up the relationship between the electronic currency and of e-commerce, cast back the history of means of payment. The second part discussed several kinds of commonly used electronic means of payment, such as the electronic cash, the electronic cheque, and the bank card. The third part described the characteristics and safety of the electronic cash technically e from the view angle of Money and Banking. Three electronic currencies, Ecash, MillCent and Mondex Card, were being compared in this part. Part four probe into the influences brought by electronic cash to currency supply and demand, interest rate and exchange ratein view of macro economics. The fifth part summarized up the whole thesis.
