With the continuous deepening in reform and opening-up, especially with the gradual perfection in the structure of market economy and the changes in the structure of ownership, there appeared drastic changes of social stratification in China during the transformational process from traditional society to modern society, from agricultural society to industrial society and from closed society to open society. Besides the changes that have taken place inside the traditional working class and peasants' class, new social strata are also in the process of being bom. For example, the stratum of entrepreneurs, the stratum of owners of privately owned businesses and the stratum of indiviual workers, etc. and every stratum is now forming its own special interests.The changes in social stratification in the process of modernization is an inevitable social phenomenon with the development of social division of labor and the execution of the market mechanism, and are exerting ever-increasing profound influences on China's contemporary socialist politics.This anticle analyzes the positive functions and negative influences on the development of China's socialist politics that are brought by the China's social transformation from the perspectives of the status quo, characteristics and tendency of the changes in social stratification. The anticle also suggests corresponding countermeasures and measures to lead and promote the healthy development of the stratification changes so that these changes will be transformed into the promoting force and growth point in the process of China's political democratization and modernization; and also furthermore to bring into full play the significant and active role of these changes during the transformation of the social struture.
