Grouplization of Chinese publishing industry, which is the needs of industrialization, integrated management and large-scale production of Chinese publishing industry, is of great significance for Chinese publishing enterprises to enhance their competitive powers and develop themselves in a relatively high speed along with China's entry of WTO. It is becoming one of the key words of China's publishing industry and the construction and operation of publishing groups will surely affect the progress of China's publishing industry. From the point of view of management and the practice of China's publishing industry, this thesis expatiates upon its origin and the course of development of grouplization of Chinese publishing industry's first, then points out the problems remained about Chinese publishing groups. Drawn on developed countries' experiences for reference and linked with China's specific situations, it puts forward the point that it is with conformity that China's publishing groups which are set up with the help of the government can reach the aims of large-scale production and their strategy of development. This thesis is divided into six parts to state the idea of conformity models of Chinese publishing groups.The first part of the thesis mainly introduces the background of Chinese publishing groups' developing course. The development of the organization of enterprise group, of publishing groups in developed countries, of China's publishing industry, and China's entry into WTO are concerned in this part. The second part mainly summarizes the practical course of Chinese publishing groups, which is divided into three stages: loose unions established by publishing units themselves, enterprise groups established with the approval of local government and publishing group established by capital and with the approval of central government. Government-dominated publishing groups are the reality that Chinese publishing industry has to face. Based on developed countries' experiences and the problems that Chinese publishing groups have faced for reference, the point is put forward that conformity is the key to the success of publishing groups. The third part focuses on the frame of Chinese publishing groups from the angle of organization structure. The system of parent and subsidiary companies has become the most important organization form with the establishment and development of the Chinese publishing groups. There are four main managing and control models, that is, capital-control model, administration-control model, participate-in-control model and platform-control model. The models of division of labor and cooperation are kind of line function structure, kind of working group structure and kind of matrix structure. Any of the above models has its strong and weak points, so every publishing group should choose one or mix several of them according to its own situation to make sure that it will help the group to gain thelarge-scale production. This part is illustrated with a case of Guangdong Publishing Group.The forth part focuses on the basis of Chinese publishing groups from the angle of integrated management, which can lead to intensive effect, lessen of trade cost and share of resources. The models of integrated management of publishing groups include entirety advance, reorganization, mutual development and strategy alliance, which could be carried out by the means of strategy making, innovation of publishing, information transform and the conformity of culture. This part is illustrated with a case of Shanghai Century Publishing Group.The fifth part focuses on the guarantee of Chinese publishing groups from the angle of innovation of corporation culture. Publishing groups are not only an economic substance but also a culture substance. Corporation culture, which means theoretical culture, behavior culture and image culture, is the soul of publishing groups.
