The integrated system is a multiple system to support production and business management, which is an efficient way for traditional industries to accomplish intensive management and improve the competition power. But in steel enterprises the application of the system is not very successful. The new system architecture and the valid application integration platform, which are special for steel enterprises, need to be researched urgently.In the dissertation, the developments of integrated systems are introduced firstly. Based on characteristics of steel enterprises, three new models are proposed, which are the life-cycle model, the control model and the function model. These models are the foundation for designing the system architecture. In addition some important technologies of enterprise integration and the function of the integration platform are discussed, and the new idea of flexible software system is emphasized. Then a new integrated system architecture with controlling capital flow as the masterstroke is presented by analyzing the importance of capital flow in enterprises. The component system is used for the design of the application integration platform. At last, the overall design of CIMS engineering of Dalian Iron & Steel Co. is introduced, and the implementation of the business management system illustrates the effectiveness of the design.In conclusion, the architecture presented in the dissertation has already been put into practice, and it is useful to the further research of the integrated system for steel enterprises.
