Traffic, one of the six factors about tourism, is closely related to tourism. This paper uses Hierarchy Analysis Program to analyze sensitive factors and utility elasticity of the touring passenger transport and conclude the respective competitive superiorities of various transport ways. The results show, railway transport is more competitive in comfortable degree, highway transport in secure rate and airline transport will become more competitive if its price is reduced. The tourist volumes share the similar developing trend in tourism and transport industry. This paper analyzes the correlation of tourism and transportation in Partial least-squares(PLS) regression, especially emphasizing on the effect of international tourism on civil aviation passenger transport industry, and that of the internal tourism on railway and highway passenger transport industry as well. The conclusion is like the following, the international tourism effects most on the highway passenger transport, less on civil aviation passenger transport, and the least on railway passenger transport. Furthermore, the passenger traffic volume will be enhanced by means of increasing the investment, improving the service quality of international tourism and reducing the average cost of overseas tourists. Developing internal tourism and improving the Chinese tourists abroad can increase the passenger traffic volume of highway and railway transport. The fact that passenger traffic volume of railway transport will be, to a large degree, effected by the tourism investment shows that it is urgently expected to improve the service quality and traveling environment in railway transport.Based on quantitative analyses, this paper put forward strategies for promoting the competitive power of various touring methods. Since the occupation of the passenger-shipping industry in the transport industry is decreasing year by year, this paper discusses the ways, such as developing the tourism, to lead it out of the current dilemma. In addition, this paper makes a comparison among the PLS, canonical correlation analysis and principal components analysis(PCA) method, which proves that the PLS works better than the others when there are only the small sample and more dependent and independent variables.Chen Yinghui(lndustry Economics) Directed by: Pro.
