Metropolitan Area is a result of industrialization and urbanization. It is the embodiment of centralization and radialization when city develops to a certainty. With rapid economic development and urbanization, Metropolitan Areas will become a main form of urban development in China. Xi'an Metropolitan Area is researched comprehensively and systematicly by the theory expatiation and demonstration analysis with comprehensive and recent statistics data, moreover the countermeasures to promote the development of Xi'an Metropolitan Area are proposed.this thesis constitutes five parts:(1) The development of Metropolitan Area in home and abroad was summarized, and the stress was proposed.(2) Some fundamental theories such as the correlative concept of the Metropolitan Area,connotation, characteristic, divide criterion, conditions, mechanism and spatial increase process so on were concretely discussed. The study of the index and standard about confirm the bound of the Metropolitan Area were comparatively analyzed(3) The inevitability and the feasibility about constructing Xi'an Metropolitan Area were proposed based on the theory, and the bound of Xi'an Metropolitan Area by the means of the quantitative analysis and the qualitative analysis was confirmed.(4) The developing actuality, problems, conditions and mechanism, the strategy target, regional structure, and some exact solve problems that can speed up the development of Xi'an Metropolitan Area are researched, moreover the policies and measures are advised.(5) The dissertation was summarized.
