Full-time Law Undergraduate Education Research

Law education, as a compulsory part of education, Plays an indispensable role in promoting the stable development of society. All the countries in the world, especially China, lay great emphasis on it. after many twists and turns and arduous explorations, law education in new china has entered a new era. But there still exists a lot of problems, such as the nature of education for full - time undergraduates of Law Majors, teachers and students, curriculum and teaching materials, modernization of teaching approaches and devices, scientific research and judicial practice, etc. In this paper, which falls into six parts, the author probes the above - mentioned problems in a comprehensive way from the historical and realistic point of view by using systematic analysis, value analysis, and positivist analysis on one hand and puts forward corresponding suggestions in accordance with reality on the other hand.In part one,As for the nature of law education, there is no definite orientation in China yet. And arguments over it are bitter. We should refer to the experience of other countries, consider the practicality of law and the demands of society, thus take professional education as the core of education for undergraduates of Law Majors . Owing to the limitation of professional law education , its scientific, authoritative and dialectical nature, and the requirements of social development, it is also important to train undergraduates to be highly - qualified and multi - dimensional.In port Two, The author suggests making the guiding thought of curriculum clear, increasing selective courses and related courses. When it comes to compiling textbooks. The author mentions that it is necessary to lessen political coloring , enlarge theoretical parts and analyses oflaw cases , and emphasize the guiding role of professional morality. Textbooks of specific and multi - dimensional character are both advisable.In part three, The author argues that a law teacher should have profound professional knowledge, pedagogical theory, excellent teaching skills and be ready to devote to teaching profession . Measures to keep law teachers qualified include selecting and training law teachers, promoting their social position, providing fund for their scientific researches, creating academic atmosphere and training leading academic researchers.Part Four deals with modernization of teaching approaches and devices. After analyzing the existing teaching methods of law education in our country , the author realizes the necessity of reforming the existing methods and proposes several constructive ones. Modern teaching devices can be adopted so as to construct manifold teaching surroundings. Direct teaching stimulate learning, train learners' thought, guarantee quality of law education in the long run.Part Five is concerned with the importance of strengthening scientific research and judicial practice and some specific design of scientific research and judicial practice is discussed. Scientific research activities, such as organizing academic groups and institutions for scientific research, writing academic papers, editing academic journals, are feasible to cultivate originality. Demonstration in simulated court, voluntary law service and teaching practice are three ways of judicial practice. Basing on analyses of the three judicial practice methods, the author suggest some improvement in judicial practice.Part Six comes to examining and evaluating students' professionallegal knowledge, which includes knowledge about law theories, thinkingability in legal profession and ability of applying legal knowledge . The author analyses the professional knowledge and realistic problems Chinese undergraduates of Law Majors have and main causes of the existing problems. The author stresses that in training and improving students' professional legal knowledge there should be a though design, scientific examination and evaluation system applying to the whole period .
