As an ideology and social practical movement, nationalism is always one of most important factors affecting on the change of international pattern. Looking back upon the history development of international patterns in past 300 years, we can see that nationalism strongly affected on the reconstruction and change of the various international patterns. Undoubtedly, nationalism will still play a pivotal role in building the coming international pattern during the history period of change of international pattern at present. This thesis composes the following several parts:Preface summarizes the achievements in nationalism research including the definition of its concept, types, historical development and function as well as the background, reasons and forms of expression of the current surge of the nationalism. It also gives a summary to the relations between nationalism and regionalism, globalization, as well as its effect on international affairs and international pattern.Section I, a discussion about the concept of nationalism and international pattern.
