The Korean Nationalism And The Affect On The Sino-ROK Relations In The Post-Cold War Era

In the international politics, nationalism theory has always been a very important theory, and the interpretation of nationalism is no consensus. We believe that: in the ideological level, nationalism is a sentiment concepts, theories and principles; in the practical level, nationalism is a political action, social movements.After the cold war, with the collapse of the bipolar structure, a surge of nationalism grows again. And the wave spreads across the globe. Since the 1990s, South Korea's economy changed from "HanJiang miracle" to the "four Asian dragons". With the economic strength of the surge, South Korea's nationalism became strong at the same time. Politically, the South Korean nationalism performance for the sake of national unity; in the economy, the performance of Korean nationalism is to promote national economic development; in the cultural, South Korea nationalism performance for the protection of traditional culture. From the analysis of the causes of the South Korea's nationalism, we can see that there are deep roots in history, rich cultural origins and specific reasons for the reality.Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, the two nations have maintained a good development. South Korean nationalism in the impact of the China - South Korea relations is mainly negative. Including the different understanding of history, the competition and trade friction in the economic, the erosion in the traditional culture, and all these problems in the China - South Korea relations are unfavorable. We should clearly understand the essence of Korean nationalism. Firstly, we ought to grasp the good opportunity of the development of China and South Korea to strengthen the cooperation and exchanges between the two countries. Secondly, we should learn the lessons from the result of Japanese nationalism which causes the contradiction between China and Japan, also between the South Korea and Japan, we are calling for "learning from history and facing to the future". Finally, we should cultivate the national spirit of China.
