Multimedia Electronic Military Topography Of The Research And Practice

Looking back thousands of years in human history , the inventions and creations of science and technology always promote the development of social history and the reform in military fields. When human society comes into information era from industrial era, a new kind of battle conformation emerges, which is called the information warfare. Different kinds of battle conformation put forward distinct request to topographic supply of campaign, but accurate topographic maps in various scales is the basic demand. Military geographic documentations, which is the necessary supplement to topography, record and evaluate military geography's influence o n n ational d efence and m ilitary a ctions o f t he r egion, a nd p rovide t he c ommander with auxiliary decision-making information. Conventional paper military geographic documentations are single in form, difficult in renewal and time consuming hi producing, so they can not fulfill the demands of modem battles. Therefore, the research of electronic multi-media military geographic documentations in aided of computer has very important realistic significance.The content of this paper mainly includes investigation content and methods of electronic multi-media military geographic documentations, the data model of multi-media database (the object-oriented multi-media data model, the extended relational data model, the hyper-text multi-media model), the general and detailed design for multi-media database and the connecting technique between foreground application and background database, which includes ODBC, MFC ODBC, DAO, OLE DB and ADO. As the display of electronic multi-media military geographic documentations is based on multiple topographic maps, increasing the display of electronic maps with macro vector data is the chief problem to solve. The paper introduces the spatial index technique at detail for it.
