China "and Different" Cultural Diplomacy

Developing strategic Chinese cultural diplomacy has already become an urgent academic subject with the international competition and cooperation and Chinese people's rejuvenation that the culture plays. Today, a group of experts and scholars have set out to explore the issue of cultural diplomacy and international images and wrote many relevant essays though, they did these based on foreign experience, ignoring that China has established unique cultural diplomacy in practice with smooth culture exchange channel, increasing concept maturity of culture communication and distinct communication goal. The subject of this thesis is new. It initially proposes that in China, cultural diplomacy with the core of "harmony but not sameness" has been established preliminarily. It is a new-styled, strategic and relatively independent cultural diplomacy pattern. Due to my limited knowledge and tact and material available I just explore it initially.This thesis consists of 4 sections.Section one is the introduction in which I define the concept and patterns of cultural diplomacy. I propose that strategic cultural diplomacy is not identical to pure culture communication. I also expound the unique connotation of "harmony but not sameness" based on basic difference of cultural diplomacy.In chapter I, I mainly illustrate the motivation and background as well as the necessity and urgent that China carries out the cultural diplomacy actively. I emphasize that developing Chinese cultural diplomacy has become an important issue relating to Chinese people's rejuvenation with the mutual connection and penetration between culture and economy, culture and politics.In chapter II, which is the key one, I mainly demonstrate found- mental issue of "harmony but not sameness". First, the unique cultural diplomacy has formed in practice .with the third generation's communal sense and leadership of CPC; Second, based on the connotation of "harmony but not sameness", Chinese cultural diplomacy totally different other countries cultural diplomacy policies, which are "sameness assimilates difference" or "difference confronts sameness". It looks at the world cultural development trend dialectically and pursues harmony, opening, equality and mutual benefits; Third, this newstyle of cultural diplomacy has born conspicuous fruits.In Chapter III, I ponder the strategic unique cultural diplomacy initially on my part, supposing that we grasp the position principle in developing Chinese cultural diplomacy firstly, secondly, there are still some defects in developing it in spite of achievement. Finally, I propose individual opinion and suggestion to deal with the problems in developing it.
