Management consulting industry is a modern industry which rises with the informationization and modernization of our society. It is also one of the tertiary industries with swiftest development. When we weigh a country's economic development level and competitive advantage, its consulting industry must be considered. Compared with many developed countries, such as U.S.A. and Japan, this intellectual industry in China is still in his initial stage and too far from the requirement of China's economic development in new times. Therefore, our management consulting industry will have a benign future only if its bottleneck is found out as early as possible.This dissertation consists of 4 chapters.Chapter 1. Theory research of management consulting. The definition, purpose, content and character of management consulting are introduced. According to a project procedure, from best pitching time, implementation steps to final assessment standard are stated in turn.Chapter 2. Present situation analysis of management consulting industry. The paper sums up global circumstances of management consulting industry and then lays stress on dissecting actualities, problems and corresponding countermeasures of management consulting industry in China. Finally, the opinion is put forward that some enterprises themselves have improper or confused management strategy which leads to the most serious problem.Chapter 3. Management strategy model analysis of management consulting companies. The author's understanding of management strategy of management consulting firms is advanced and 4 different management strategy models are discussed: Mckinsey model with strategy consulting as its most important business, IBM business-consulting model, Sinotrust model with nearly all kinds of consulting business and PKU model based on domestic enterprises.Chapter 4. Management strategy model construction of management consulting enterprises in China. Because of the present situation of China's consulting market, especially the fact that many middle and small companies are faced with great difficulties, a new model based on Topology Research Institute is constructed, which fits most middle and small companies in management consulting industry. This model is composed of 4 aspects: a market competitive strategy with own unique business, a human resource strategy with person-oriented approach, an enterprise culture strategy with shared vision, learning and team spirit, and a growth strategy with capital strategy, brand strategy, innovation strategy, alliance strategy and merger & acquisition strategy.No matter what kind of enterprise it is, a good management strategy is a must, because management strategy concerns the life or death of the enterprise. Wish this paper can be useful to domestic management consulting enterprises.
