With the thread of the relationship between the Labour Party of Brazil and the democratization of Brazil , this paper analyzes the difficulty and the prospect of the democratization of Brazil. The paper can be devided into four parts. The first part states the process and features of the course of Brazil democratization to give people a general idea. The second part is about the development progress of PT. The third one shoes the role PT played in the progress of democratization of Brazil. That is the PT has promoted the development of the democratization . The last part tells us the challenge and difficulty that the democratization of Brazil is facing. But under the leadership of PT , the democratization of Brazil has a bright future. The progress of Brazil democratization was similar to the worlds. Both of them had gone through three times, and after the first two ones, both were substituted by autocracy ,so that the progress of the democratization was interrupted. This phenomenon Conformed with the theory which was referred to in the Third Waves by Huntington. Because of the situation of Brail, the three tides of democratization showed their own features.During the president election on Oct. 27th 2002, Lula received 61.4% of the vote at last. Lula belonged to PT, so it was also the first time for the left - winged party to manage the government in the history of Brazil . PT was a young party and it almost synchronizedly developed with the redemocratization of Brazil . The third Wave , So PT had something to do with the democratization of Brail. In the resent years, the depression in economy and the seriousness in social issues has brought about political turbulence which seriously hindered the progress of Brails democratization. At the critical time with the lead of lula , PT take over Brail. PT is a comparatively young party in Brazilian history , which made its first appearance in the beginning of 80' s PT as a left - winged party, consists of workers of metallurgy industry, and it represents the benefit of the masses , in the late 20 years , it has developed from a small party to the third largest one in the country , and has become the party in power. Of course lula has played a very important role in the development and maturity of PT, It is his excellent leading ability and great ambition that made PT development into such a situation.Lula took his office on Jan 1st,2003 and at that time the social and economy of Brazil isstill in its bad situation . Economic recession , high rate of unemployment , low rate of employment unfair assignment. . .all of which are big problems to Lula and are also stumbling blocks to the democratization. In spite of those , the Brazilian party system, the extreme multi - party system , which was set up after many changes , has also caused a lot of blocks to the democratization . Since under this system, each of the party cannot stand steadily on the stage of politics , and have difficulty in having an absolute majority of the seats in the parliament . Therefore , it has caused the measures and reforms made by the party in power difficulty to be carried out . According to Mainwaring's standard devieding the party system Brazilian party system belongs to the weak institutionalization party system .After coming into power ,PT has taken a series Of measures to develop the economy, to solve the social problems , such as unfair assignment , to enchance its states in the parliament , and to get more support form the parliament. It has been paying more attention to develop the educational course and to teach people more about democracy . Meanwhile , it also pays attention to the administration of social safety to make a safe and cooperative society for the rapid improvement of democratization.
