Oil is the most important energy product, It cannot be substituted by other energy product in a country's economy and people's life. In China the oil industry have had a rapid development since the foundation of the new China , especially after the Economic Innovation, and has got achievement which attract the focus of the world.The Nanchong refinery is a branch enterprise of Petrochina Company Limited, it is the only refinery in southwest China, it has a geographical advantage . After over 40 years development, Nanchong refinery has its featured products and steady market, but on the other hand, the scale of Nanchong refinery is smaller than average level, its technology level is not developed, and its cost is on a higher level. Facing the powerful competition from large refineries domestically and abroad, its future of development is grimness, How to get alive and more strong in the future has become the focus of its stuff.The writer of the paper has taken reviews on the spot, collected materials and data on the spot, studied it's exterior environment. combined with the theories of strategic management the writer makes a SWOT analysis on the Nanchong refinery, then he gives some advice for its strategy, and give some plans and measures for the act of the strategy in further.The paper consists of four chapters, the contents of each chapter are as follows:In the first chapter, the writer makes an analysis on the development fact of the refine industry domestically and abroad, the envirmental pressure for the refine industry in China, the challenges for Chinese refineries of WTO.In the second chapter, the writer introduces some strategic theories, including the concept of strategic management, the properties of strategymanagement. it's a basis of the study for the Nanchong refinery's strategy.In the third chapter, the writer describes the facts of the Nanchong refinery, includeing its product sets, its throughput, the characters of its products, its technology level. And make a analysis of the its situations .In the fourth chapter, after the SWOT analysis, the writer gives out advice of strategies for the Nanchong refinery, it is a differentiate stategy,which means that Nanchong refinery should develop and produce stapleless oil product, improve the standard of its light oil products and lubricant products, produce a full series of its wax products, make a way of specialty, extract, fresh and especial. And then get the market by its especial and excellent products. At the same time, Nanchong refinery should take measures to decrease its products' cost, cath the market of southwest China, expand near markets to increase the market share, develop new products to meet the need of the market.In this chapter, the writer also gives some suggestion to ensure the implement of the strategies, such as produce management, adjusting the organization of the refinery, cost management, building whole system of insprit and obligation, changing the concept of marketing strategy, and cultivating the culture of the enterprise.The study of this paper can give some valuable conference for the strategy management of the Nanchong refinery.
