The big-scale anti-globalization movements started from the protests and demonstrations which had taken place in Seattle, a west coast city of the US in the end of 1999. In the following years, protests and demonstrations directed against such international organizations as WTO or WB have been going on without stop and have even caused casualties in Italy. The annual "Eight Western Summit Conference" is also echoed by a gathering of anti- globalization activists, with tens of thousands of demonstrators staging one protest after another. Experts point out that anti-globalization movements will not stop should there be globalization trends. It can be safely said that anti-globalization is taking place against the background of deepening globalization process, and it indicates that the world development is heading towards conflicts. Then, there is the question of how to define anti-globalization. Some scholars term it as "Resistance to globalization"; some call it "Global discontents", "Global Obscenities", or "anti-capitalism". This dissertation analyses the possible impact on the on-going globalization brought about by the anti-globalization movements from the political & cultural aspect, rather than dwell on the definition of anti-globalization. What effect can anti-globalization have on the Western World, the advocator and facilitator of Globalization ? What impact on the political culture of theWestern World? What impact on this ever increasingly close world ? What political motivation do those anti-globalization participators have, and what are the corresponding political cultural properties of the political motivation ? What are the theoretical bases of the political culture ? What possible transition can it help to bring about ?The dissertation concludes that anti-globalization is a very complex movement which is full of uncertainties, or it may be termed as an event which involves peoples with differing political orientation, Ultra-Right Wing, Right Wing, the Middle Forces, Left Wing and Ultra-Left Wing. The anti-globalization activities may allude to the disorientation of globalization or its defects, nevertheless, the different values that anti-globalization advocators hold can stop them from being effectively united. Besides, anti-globalization lacks an effective substitute, as a result, its future development is unclear, complex and uncertain.
