The thesis touches on World Social Forum, a newly-emerged form of anti-globalization movements, and gives a systematic pectination and comprehensive comment on it so that it can be properly and comprehensively acknowledged and tackled with. And also the thesis is expected to be helpful to have an insight on the whole image and trend of anti-globalization movements, the interaction between globalization and anti-globalization, the future of globalization and the development of global civil society from a new perspective. To begin with, the reasons of the emergence of World Social Forum have been analyzed and discussed from a macroscopically historical perspective and in the context of the extraordinary anti-globalization movements. Then, World Social Forum is dealt with chronologically from 2001 to 2006 in order to find out its developmental track by examining its efforts to converge and integrate most of the anti-globalization movements, to refute neo-liberal globalization and seek alternatives for it under the slogan of"Another World is Possible".Finally, the author tries to comment on World Social Forum and presume its prospect; analyzes its development over the anti-globalization movements and its impacts of its alternatives on globalization, global civil society and even the world politics. On the basis of analyzing its limitations and drawbacks, he points out that, only when its underlying contradiction between its dynamics and its current structure and the controversies among its advocates have been properly handled and appropriately resolved, can World Social Forum play an effective role and exert more influence in the future.
