The concept of sustainable development is a completely global and new concept nowadays, which is being developed under the concerns and efforts of the people since it was presented. The word of sustainable development is one of the words, which are used in the highest frequency degree; it is strongly agreed by all countries including deve1oping countries and deve1oped countries. Economy and social life will be greatly changed by implementing the strategy of sustainable development, and the change and development of social existence must inflect the change and development of social ideology as social existence decides social ideology, and the law as the superstructure must be also inflected greatly by it. Sustainable development will lead to a revolution of law, as a independent law branch, international economic law is being inflected greatly by the theory of sustainable development, and it shows a strong coherence with the concept of sustainable development at connotation and extension because international economic law relationship is just the object or area adjusted by international economic law. Based on beginning with the international trade law which is the most important component of the international economic law, this article probes into the principle of sustainable development in international economic law and regards that the principle of sustainable development is a basic principle of international economic law from angle of view of environment and trade, through analyzing on mutual interaction between the basic principles of international law with the principle of sustainable development, and mutual interaction between the new international economic orders with the principle of sustainable development.This article includes six sections with about 50,000 words.The first relates the theory of sustainable development by analyzing the background and development of theory of sustainabledevelopment, including the characters of it.The second shows a strongly consistency relationship between the principle of sustainable development with international economic law by analyzing the essential meaning of the principle of sustainable development and the contents of international economic law.The third presents the interaction between the principle of sustainable development with basic principles of international economic law, concluding that the principle of sustainable development should be the basic principle of international economic law.The fourth probes into the interaction between the principle of sustainable development with new international economic order, it shows the influence on international economic law by the principle of sustainable development.The fifth is the major content of this article, and it presents that a very compact relationship between the principle of sustainable development with international economic law from angle of view of environment and trade.The last one is the conclusion that international economic law is being greatly inflected by the principle of sustainable development; the principle of sustainable development is reasonably essential and basic principle of international economic law, and guiding the developing of international economic law.
