Chinese Exports Of "immiserizing Growth" Theory And Empirical Analysis

Economy globalization has become the trend in the history of the world, and the new moment of economic socialization and internationalization in the high-tech condition, Economy globalization forces the high-speed increase of international trade, and redounds to realize the balance of demand and supply in the larger range. However, it needs continual development today, every state, every industry makes great efforts to enter international market .Developing countries find that the more amount of the export goods, the lower price of it , and the income of foreign exchange is decreasing .That the gains from economic growth will be counteracted by the ever -deteriorating terms of trade is the problem of "immiserizing growth" nagging developing countries. Empirical analysis shows that the Chinese economy is also confronted by the danger of immiserizing growth thanks to the incompleteness in its reform of foreign trade regime and the divergence of its export commodity structure from its domestic production structure. The Chinese foreign trade , therefore , must shake off the fetters of traditional comparative advantage and select the export - oriented development strategy based on competitive advantage. At last ,some suggestions are given.The economists from the world research the NBTT deteriorating, immiserizing of the developing countries , but ignore the research of Chinese immiserizing . This paper makes emphasis on the research of Chinese immiserizing.First, I show the question of immiserizing in China in this paper, and then use the theory of Terms of Trade Deteriorating to analyze the macro-economic status, and adopt the J.Bhagwati's theory about the immiserizing of developing country to analyze the component of import and export in China, and the relation between the international trade and economy growth positively, secondly, we can show trend of the NBTT.ITT, SFTT and DFTT from the statistics of the recent twenty years and research the reason of the trend ,andthen choose the three factor--economy growth , rate and tariff to analyzethe reason for the Terms of Trade deteriorating. Finally ,I show the other reasons from microeconomic activity , microeconomic activity and thegovernment policy and the enterprise activity ,and the provide the measure to settle the question.The result from this paper:1. The three Terms of trade are deteriorated except the ITT for the export growth of labor intensive industry2. The economy in China meet J.Bhagwati's theory from the analysis on component of import and export in China, and the relation between the international trade and economy growth.3.
