Evolution Of The On The Chinese Communist Party's Policy Toward Taiwan

This paper is devoted to a study on CPC's policies to Taiwan issue. Accordingto literature review on the topic, I try to demonstrate CPC withhold a principledstand and flexible strategy and tactics. And try to draw useful conclusions onsmoothing out Taiwan issue.The origin of Taiwan issue is China's War of Liberation, and it's an internalaffairs. CPC have a historic responsibility to resolve this issue and unite the state.To get such result CPC formulate different policies and measures on the basis ofdistinct periods and circumstances.On the eve of building up People's Republic of China, in accordance with thesituation, the first generation of CPC's leading nucleus put forward the policy onlibrating Taiwan with arms. On the fifties of the 20 century, with the changedsituation, the policy on liberating Taiwan with peace is produced.From the eighties, on the basis of changed world and civil situations, DengXiaoping put forward 'one country, two systems'to carry the unity a step forward.From the middle of the nineties, Jiang Zeming who represents CPC andgovernment of China issue an important statement to solve Taiwan issue. Heexpounds deeply the thought of 'one country, two systems', and analyses the presentsituation, then raises eight propositions that develop the relationship betweenTaiwan and Chinese mainland and finish the unity peacefully.Entering the 21 century, facing the changes of the relationship betweenTaiwan and mainland and independence of Taiwan movement, Hu Jintao, whorepresents the new generation of leading nucleus of the central authorities, putforward four recommendations. But also the new generation of leading nucleus ofthe central authorities strengthens to oppose independence of Taiwan, and makes to defend the unity of country.According to the changes of internal and external situation, together withTaiwan and Chinese mainland, every generation of CPC's leading nucleus of thecentral authorities put forward different policies on Taiwan issue around the corethat is 'one China'. The end is to achieve one China that is united and stable.
