Since the eighties of the 20th century, following the constantlylaunching of Family Planning, our country has begun the course ofPopulation Aging. According to the Fifth Census data, The old aged 65and above in our country accounted for 6.97% of the total population upto 2000, which indicated the society had already stepped into Old AgeSociety in our country basically. During the new century, the aging course of the population willcontinue. According to the estimation of World Bank, the scale of thepeople aged 65 and above in our country will rise to 0.21 billion, whichaccounts 13.12% of the total population. And in 2050, the scale andproportion will be up to 0.291 billion, 18.19%. In the following years, a society that marked with Population Agingstructure will come in, which will influence our life in an all-round way.Also, due to old crowd's unique, psychological characteristics and lifestyles, they need be paid more attention by the society. In the other handthey have special consumption demand for the Human Settlements. Thedemand for the housing is one of old people's basic living needs.Compared with other demands, the expenditure of the house is muchhigher, and almost unchanging. The old will hold the careful attitude tothis expenditure. However, according to the sample investigation, there are less thanone million old people in facilities constructed to help support old peopleat present in our country. Also, parents living in families have lowpositions or live alone frequently. And also a lot of supporting facilitiesare simple, crude, and relatively small in scale. There are great gap tomeet the demands of the old people. It is very important and urgent for us to study these problems of theAging Human Settlements in the city in the context of the PopulationAging. This thesis consists of six parts: In chapter one the author recommend the background of Old AgeSociety in cities systematically. According to some of indexes analysis,our country had already become Old Age Society in 2000, basically and itis characterized by the large quantity, the fast aging growth rate, theobvious aging development trend. Then the author analyses thecharacteristic, psychological characteristics and life styles of the oldcrowd, then point out that old people need the more care and that the oldhave special demands for the Human Settlements. Chapter two analyses and comments the theories relevant to urbanHuman Settlements and aged people. The author defines the mostimportant concept " Human Settlements " at first, points out that thisthesis is based on the concept in a narrow sense. Then, the authorintroduced aged economic theories of people, aged industry's theory andLife Cycle theory separately, also, the author comments these theories. In Chapter three the author introduces the basic situation of theAging Human Settlements of the old in our country, then comparesseveral kinds of common ways of supporting the old. On the basis of theanalysis, the author concludes that the Family Supporting still occupiesan leading position in a great deal of modes of supporting the old. In Chapter four analyses the mode of the Aging Human Settlementsenvironmental construction in the city further. The author introduces theHuman Settlements environmental construction modes in some countriesat first. Then the author try to set up the ideal model, which the old andthe young inhabit the residence altogether, living apart house, apartmentfor elderly people. In Chapter five the author proposes accelerating the industrializationof Aging House of city in our country. After introduce the intension ofindustrialization of Aging House at first, the author explained theunderstanding of industrialization of Aging House, then carry on simpleanalysis to the supply and demand of the Aging House. Finally the authormakes the conclusion that the development of Aging House should be along-term course.
