Oil is a strategic resource, and the"blood"of modern industrial society, the security of which concerns one nation's economy, its people's life and the national security. As oil is a commodity, its price is determined by the rule of value and fluctuates under the influence of the supply and demand relations. However, oil, in a certain sense, is also a kind of political commodity, or we can say it is a"strategic political commodity", so its price is also affected by political factors. As we know, since oil has been wildly used, every fluctuation of its price, far from being a pure result of any economic activity, is more or less influenced by political factors, as fully evidenced by the two wars after"9?11", and the nuclear crisis in Iran. Since"9?11"the competition for oil among nations in the world has become increasingly fierce. The nations are speeding up in order to hold a good position in the world oil geographical structure. In the 21st century, the development of China enters a new stage, which increases the demands for energy. To seize a good opportunity to develop economy, to stabilize the society, to strengthen the national security, and to improve the people's living standard, the realization of all these goals depends on the safe supply of energy, especially oil. After analyzing the world's new oil geographical structure and the oil circumstances that China is presently facing, the author concludes some successful experience of a few Western countries from which China can learn. The author hereby offers some suggestions for the insurance of national oil security, for reference only.
