China's Modernization In The Context Of Farmers' Cultural Habitus Analysis,

In the present day China, the change of the farmers'cultural mind is a key issue that needs to be solved in the process of the modernization of the farmers and rural areas. The previous studies mainly study from the macroscopic and microscopic aspects, or study the abstract theories, or tend to study some cases separately. This paper adopts the field theory proposed by Bourdieu, the France sociologists and philosopher, which viewing from"intermediate perspective obtaining", hoping to construal the cultural mind of the farmers. Altogether this article is divided into three parts.In the first part, this paper elaborated the basic issues of the farmer's cultural field and the farmer's cultural habitus. First we introduced the"Field–Habitus"Theory, elaborated the characteristics and relationships of field and habitus, and analyzed its significanc to analyze the farmer's psychological culture. Then we analyzed the meaning of culture and cultural habitus, the characteristics of"Farmer cultural field"and"farmer cultural habitus", and the relations between the farmer cultural field and farmer cultural habitus. On the analysis of this, we conclude that the field theory has great significance on the analysis of such questions as the Chinese farmers'temper, thinking method, and value orientations, etc.In the second part, based on the combination of history and reality, theory and practice, it mainly analyzes the characteristics and causes of our present farmers'cultural habitus. With reference to the study of the previous scholars, we cited the contradiction method to have a new comprehensive analysis of the culture field of the Chinese farmers after the reform and open policy, which has such representations: the coexistence of the tradition and modernization, the stability and plasticity, the experience and the creativity, the satisfaction with the present life and the advocation of competition, and emphasizing the interpersonal relationships and emphasizing the law. Then we analyzed the causes of the present farmer cultural habitus: the separate-govern of city and countryside; the imperfect of market economy; the culture flaw of countryside spirit.In the third part, on the basis of the my previous study on the farmers'habitus and some experiential thinking of it, I discussed the measures of the construction of modernized farmers'cultural field. On the basis of the analysis of the construction of modern farmers'cultural habitus, we will obtaine from the two aspects of the improvement of field structure and the adding of cultural capital. We proposed to vigorously develop socialist market economy, change the dual policy which the city and countryside is separately governed, vigorously accelerate the transfer of the rural population, strengthen the construction of countryside spiritual civilization, strengthen the countryside compulsory education, strengthen the countryside populace media method, establish the countryside public service system and so on to construct the modern farmer cultural habitus.
