Oil, the basic and strategic resources both at the present time and in the future, is the most widely-used form of energy in the world. With its ever-growing importance, it rises to be one of the key research objects among scholars along with political, economic, and military security. The demand and supply situation will impose a direct influence upon the economic well-being of the Asian-Pacific region nations. On account of the energy supply, production and transportation, China and ASEAN nations have a strong connection between each other. And this will ultimately affect bilateral relations between China and ASEAN nations in politics, economics as well.This main body of this thesis contains three chapters. The first chapter mainly defines the meaning and connotation of the term"energy"and"energy security". In macroscopical point of view, analyzing the energy reserve, production and consumption at the world scale, illustrating the importance of energy in people's daily lives as well as in the fields of world politics, economies and military.Chapter two draws the argumentation back into China, discussing mainly the current energy situation energy security in China and foreign relations concerning the energy security.The third chapter lays the keystone of this thesis. It explodes the cooperative and competitive relationships between China and ASEAM nations in the aspects of production, transportation and price. This thesis intends to provide some references on the issues of China's energy security and Sino-ASEAN relations.
