The purpose of studying the Commonwealth of Independent States under the vision of geopolitics is to make a quite scientific forecast to the situation of the Commonwealth of Independent States using general rules of geopolitical theory. Therefore, this dissertation takes the geopolitical theory as instruction, starts with analyzing the geopolitical essential factor and the powers of this region, and focuses on the interaction pattern of the geopolitical powers of this region. On the basis of it, the dissertation reveals that the geopolitical situation of the Commonwealth of Independent States is tending diversification. Finally, the dissertation makes the stopover on Chinese strategic question.As an integrated geopolitical region, the Commonwealth of Independent States is composed of a series of geopolitical elements such as certain geographical area, population, political system, and many geopolitical powers. The geopolitical region is the material carrier of the interaction among the geopolitical powers, the geopolitical structure and the situation. The geopolitical powers of the Commonwealth of Independent States can be divided into two categories. They are the geopolitical central country Russia and the geopolitical secondary countries. There is an interaction among the geopolitical powers. The interaction of the Commonwealth of Independent States geopolitical region first takes the form of geopolitical cooperation, including the cooperation taking integration as the representative among powers of this region. The interaction of the Commonwealth of Independent States geopolitical region put competition forward. Competition is the essence of geopolitics. According to beneficial relationship and geographical difference, the competition of the Commonwealth of Independent States geopolitical region can be divided into three patterns, that is the co-operative competition and the compromised competition. Interaction causes the maintenance and the development of the structure. The geopolitical structure is a relatively stable relational structure which is formed by interaction among countries in the space. The nature of the geopolitical structure decides the geopolitical situation in the structure to a great extent. The interaction pattern of the Commonwealth of Independent States which primarily registers as competition-corporation decides that its geopolitical structure is not unstable and its geopolitical situation tend to diversification. The multiple geopolitical situation of the Commonwealth of Independent States is the result of the interaction among the geopolitical powers of this region. But there are also many political powers such as America and EU. The multiple geopolitical situation has important influence to China. China must catch the opportunity of the multiple situation and strengthen the relationship with powers of this geopolitical region, especially with Russia and central Asian countries. China also needs to guard against USA which could make geopolitical attack to China through the pattern plate and springboard of the multiple geopolitical situation of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
