On The East China Sea Issue And Sino-japanese Relations

In recent years, the continental shelf boundary and oil and gas field dispute issue in the East China Sea between China and Japan is emerging into the big issue of the two governments, even probably become the third big issue which influences the relationship between China and Japan, at the back of the history issue and Taiwan issue. Because of the continental shelf boundary, oil and gas field dispute have their own unique nature, therefore, the author defines them to be the East China Sea issue in the narrow sense. This paper makes a serious research to the issue itself, the issue's nature and the policy of Chinese and Japanese government. Then on the basis of it, talk about the comparative relations between this issue and history, Taiwan issue. Then, make a further systematic research and clarification to the form and characteristics which the East China Sea issue influences the relationship between China and Japan.The author analyzes the East China Sea's influences to the relationship of China and Japan by the methods of history research and comparative research. On the basis of scientifically predicting Japan's policy, the author offers my viewpoint and suggestion to solve the East China Sea issue for China and Japan. China and Japan have the potential in energy cooperation, On the basis of common exploitation, if China and Japan can cooperate with each other in energy policy and oil reservation, the issue of East China Sea must be solved more smoothly. On the basis of energy cooperation, China and Japan can strengthen the process of consultation and negotiation, it is conducive to mitigate political relations between the two countries. The consultation and negotiation in this issue must form a positive influence to the prospect of the common exploitation, and undoubtedly, move forward a healthy development of the political relations between China and Japan. In addition, the healthy relations can accelerate other issue's solution between China and Japan. This can play an important role in the acceleration of everlasting strategic and reciprocal relations between China and Japan.
