With entering the new century, China is growing into an economic power, and Japan isgraduate into a political power, two powers-are coexist in East Asia, besides that, difference ofstrategy for development, history contradiction make Sino-Japanese relationship to be entereda new stage, "turbulent period".For a long time, China is keeping a steady economic growth in high-speed, and nationalstrength has been getting up steadily as well, so, China is acting a great-power with decisiveinfluence on international affairs, today, the hot spots of society in every country can't becompletely out of touch from China. In contrast, the economic development Of Japan is stillkeeping stagnant although has been recovered from the effects of "Bubble economy", thepolitics and military are still following his Foreign line of "Pro-American", so that Japan can'tbecame fully independent in politics and military affairs in foreseeable future, in spite of beingcharacterized by obvious conservatism and nationalism. Both of the two countries are showing an unadapted mood to the relationship whichmade by widening disparity between two countries mentioned above. Many of Chinesepeople make extreme anti-Japanese protests because of their grief emotion for atrocity inJapanese aggressive wars, Meanwhile, In the face of China's rising, Japan shows an excitableand irresponsible mood since lost the superiority to China. All these emotions are thecharacteristic feature of "turbulent period of Sino-Japanese relationship".For the reason of the fear of China's rising and following the need by U.S. to restraindevelopment of China, Japan Currently takes an uncompromising stance to China, e.g. inhistory issue, territory, energy supplies, and so on. Especially in recent years, Koizumi's visitsto the Yasukuni shrine made the relationship between two countries' leaders to be almostcollapsed. China is now in a period of economic development, so a peaceful and safeinternational environment is most important. A stable and peaceful relationship between twocountries is not only good for China's reform policy and economic development but alsonecessary for economic development of Japan and its becoming a "normal Country".Issue of the utmost importance is to lead Japan into a correct foreign line and make thetransition of "turbulent period of Sino-Japanese relationship" go smoothly.
