Under suchcircumstances, the main key of Sino-Japanese relationship changed form “friendshipand cooperation” to “cooperation and competition”. Entering the21stcentury, due toproblems concerning history, Taiwan issue, military confidence, territory andterritorial waters, political and strategic relationship between China and Japanremained stagnant and even went backwards. This dissertation first analyzes changes happened in the economic, political andemotional aspects in Sino-Japanese relationship. It then explains in detail causes forthese changes. It also compares strategies taken by both sides based on the shifting ofnational comprehensive strength and predicts the direction of Sino-Japaneserelationship. It concludes that China’s rising up and its advantage over Japan is anirresistible trend. Sino-Japanese relationship will undergo a period of multipleconflicts. We should correctly understand and cope with these conflicts, that is, avoiddamaging future relationship by temporary tension, avoid affecting comprehensiverelationship by local events.
