On Family Violence And Prevention Measures

Domestic violence is the ugly scene omni-present throughout the mankindhistory, in which the infirm in families such as female, children, theaged and the disabled may often become victims. Domestic violenceseriously jeopardize the mentality and health of the victims, infringingthe victims' lawful rights, disturbing the peace and development ofsociety. Following the building up of democratic and lawful awareness,and in conjunction with the development of the society and embarkationof feminism, serious of social and legislative problems incurred by thedomestic abuse have internationally awakened the universal attention.Having gone through the comprehensive approaches in the course ofanalysis and research, including historical, comparative and realinstance analyses, the domestic violence and the theory and practice forprevention of which are given a fairly complete analysis and judgment inthis study. Except Chapter One-preface and the final Chapter 6, thisdissertation consists of 4 parts. Chapter 2 elaborates on the definitionof domestic violence. Following the introductions to the respective viewsover domestic violence given by scholars from foreign countries, mainlandChina and Taiwan Region, the study gives a comprehensive analysis overthese views. Chapter 3 is about the status quo and the characteristicsof the contemporary domestic violence in China, analyses over which isgiven basing on the data investigated by the World Bank, and basing onthe National and Local polls. Chapter 4 focuses on analyses of the causesand endangerments of domestic violence. The analyses of causes ofdomestic violence are directed at the historical, economic, psychologicaland physiological aspects, and the analyses of endangerments of domesticviolence angle at the disservices to female, children, abuser himself,family and to the community. Chapter 5 is regarding the control andprevention of domestic violence. Basing on the generalization of theexperiences from advanced countries in preventing and controllingdomestic violence, the study analyzes the legislative status quo anddefects in the anti-domestic-violence in China, suggesting legislativeperfection and the establishment of the legislative system of integrityin anti-domestic-violence. In addition, it is also suggested that we need conceptual transition and building up awareness in whole community;mobilizing forces of the whole community to attend and participate in themovement of anti-domestic-violence; Comprehensive suggestions forcontrolling domestic violence include stressing on self-protection,responding domestic-violence in the active manner.
