When Osama Bin Laden has been in the limelight since 911 event occurred, his staunch alliance Taliban also draw world-wide attentions. However, behind the events, the truth about competition in Afghanistan among great powers and regional powers seems not very apparent.The main purpose of this essay is to take this as an opportunity and choose the confrontations in Afghanistan between Iran and Pakistan as one of examples to describe the evolution of Pakistan-Iran relations, and further find out bilateral focal points. A big picture of cooperation and conflicts between Pakistan and Iran would be presented Through detailed explanation of these issues.The paper includes following parts: the review of Pakistan-Iran relations (before 1979), the development of bilateral relations (from 1979 to present),the bilateral focuses and the overall analysis of bilateral relations.
