Relations Between Iran And Afghanistan In 2016-2018

Iran is one of Afghanistan's most important neighbors.After 9·11,Afghan government keeps a close relationship with Iran.At present,both the two country have to deal with changes comes from home or abroad.Afghanistan is faceing an increasingly serious domestic situation.With the gradual withdrawal of the U.S.-leading International Security Assistance Force since October 2014,the Afghan government has not demonstrated its ability to control all the country.The Taliban-controlled areas are increasing year by year.To make matters worse,the DAESH's force entered Afghanistan at the end of 2014 which caused a wave of expansion in the first few months.Although DAESH was limited now,the Taliban forces is becaome more and more powerful since 2015.While Afghanistan is struggling to cope with domestic turmoil,Iran has to deal with the new sanction which launched by the United States.In January 2016,the international community ended its sanctions against Iran.But the United States unilaterally withdrew from the Iran Nuclear Deal in May 2018 and officially restarted new sanctions against Iran on the 5th November.The situation will have an negative impact on Iran.Under such a new background of both country,this paper focuses on the cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan which include the economic field from 2016 to 2018,the links between the two sides in resettlement of refugees and drug control,and the Iranian influences on the domestic politics of Afghanistan.This paper believes that in the current turbulent context,Afghanistan and Iran maintained the close relationship.At present,only economic and refugee issues are directly affected by the external environment.The water and drug problems and Iran's influence on Afghan domestic politics depend on the Afghan government's capability in domestic issues.By the discussion of the intercourse between Iran and Afghanistan in 2016-2018,this paper believes that Iran is an important force for Afghanistan stability.In short term,Itan is the dominate force in the bilateral relation,but in the long run,Afghan will become more active in bilateral relation after completely control all the domestic area.
