As for China, northeast Asia is all along the important aspect of China's national security. The Korea peninsula lies in the core of Northeast Asia. The great significance that the Korea peninsula gives to China's national security first comes from its unique geostrategic position.China plays more and more important role in the Korea peninsula issue. Especially after the emergence of North Korea nuclear problem, China actively carries on the mediation and consultation among North Korea, South Korea, Japan, the United States and Russia, and actively participate in the "six-party talk", which in some degree successfully keeps the situations of Korea peninsula away from deterioration.
