In the late 70s and early 80s of the twentieth century, with the rapid development of the Islamic revolution in Iran, the Islamic world witnessed the rise of Islamic Fundamentalism. This fundamentalism movement not only emphasizes on the moral or spiritual or social aspects of Islam, but also emphasizes on its political aspect. Its real goal is to establish religious regime within one or several countries. And the only way to realize that goal is to seize power and fully promote Islam by the state machinery. Only in that way, can they realize the governing of Islam. Islam extremism shares the same origin of ideology with Islamic Fundamentalism, but extremism inherits from and represents the ideology of extreme political Islam more than Fundamentalism does. This thesis studies two of the Islamic extremist organizations——Hamas from Palestine and Hezbollah from Lebanon, to analyze the reason why Islamic extremists are developing rapidly in middle east. Social conflicts caused by the failure of the Middle East countries'modernization constitute internal reason of the rapid development of middle east Islam extremists. Muslims get more and more unsatisfied with the government because of all kinds of social conflicts, and they are becoming more and more extreme. The more and more complicated political situation in middle east since the late 20th century is the external reason why Islam extremists is developing fast in middle east. The Arab countries'failure in the Arab-Israeli Wars, the long-time conflict between Arab and Israel, and the intervention of super power and local powers, all of these make more and more Muslims in middle east turn to extremism. There are mainly two factions in middle east Islamic world——moderates and extremists. Both of them are growing. From the long run, moderate way will be the final solution, but now it is not as attractive as extreme way. Islam extremists develop from a certain political environment, and it is restricted by the Islamic Fundamentalism. Although Islamic extremists can inspire people and get a lot of support by its slogan of religious revival at the time when social conflicts are fierce, Islamic Fundamentalism has a clear limit over them. Islamic Fundamentalism does not make any innovation or change to Islam, which makes it unaccustomed to the already changed internal and external environment, and deprives its ability to lead Muslims in Middle East out of poverty and marginalization. Islam extremists will be eliminated if they can not solve the various conflicts facing Middle East. If they want further development, they have to adjust their policies according to the changed situation, look at Islam from a developing way, solve problems with flexibility and practicalness, and safeguard its national interest by dialogues and cooperation. It should influence the government's decision by taking part in the government, and make the politic course go to the direction they are longing for gradually. Only by this, can Islamic extremists have further development in the political arena of Middle East.
