Mass Media On The Role Of The Democratic And Political Construction

"Mass media" is a core concept in modern society. With the development of economy and society, the influence of mass media is being enlarged increasingly to almost every field of social life. Especially in the field of politics, mass media has played a very "active role". In the modern political life, the behaviors of controlling and making use of mass media have come to be the most common political behavior. Meanwhile, its report on politics as well as relevant areas also has an increasing effect on political behaviors and activities in modern society.Along with the further construction of democratic politics, China is being in the period of social transformation. But the rapid development of information technology, especially after the new concept to build a harmonious society has been put forward, will bring people to an era of mass media with the characteristics of globalization, internet and market, which presents new challenges to our own country's mass media. Therefore, there will be pressingly practical significance and urgent need in studying the effects that mass media has exerted to the construction of democratic politics and the ways of how to better avail ourselves of mass media to promote the construction of democratic politics.This dissertation is divided into four parts: The first part sets forth the relevant notions, functions of mass media and the relationship between mass media and politics; The second part comments on the main problems that exist in the development of the construction of democratic politics. The third part stresses itself on studying the roles that mass media has played in advancing the construction of democratic politics, which is demonstrated through an analysis of several related cases in present-day China; And the last part mainly probes into the ways of how to take full advantage of mass media to facilitate the construction of democratic politics. By analyzing and discussing to these problems mentioned above, this dissertation aims to make the mass media of new era better serve our construction of democratic politics.
