Along with the profound changes in the international and regional situations, in July 1995, the state of long-term confrontation relationship between Vietnam and the US has realized the historical reconciliation as President Clinton formally announced to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam at the White House. In December 2006, President Bush signed the Permanent Normal Trade Relations for Viet Nam. Along with the Vietnam's accession to the WTO and the sign of the PNTR proclamation, these symbolized that the Vietnam and the US had made a decisive step on the road to achieve fully normalization, also indicated that the bilateral relationship between the two countries entered a new era. From 1995 to 2006, the relations between Vietnam and the US had experienced a complex development and successional variation process. Therefore, the systematic and in-depth study of reconstruction and adjustment between Vietnam and the United States after the Cold War has important theoretical value and practical significance.This paper attempts to analyze the history of Vietnam's foreign relations and make an overall assessment of lots of factors in the different periods and issue areas of Vietnam's policy towards the US. This article is divided into the following 5 parts:The introduction explains the meaning of topic and research methods.The second part will review the history of track before the resumption of the normalization of bilateral relations between Vietnam and the United States and establish a time frame based on the formulated research methods and ideas.The third part sums up the current situation of relations between Vietnam and the United States after the normalization, analyzes in detail the effects and the development of the process of evolution, benefits and disputes in the political and diplomatic areas under such an international context that the Cold War ended, peace and development became the subject of the time.The fourth part is the natural start and in-depth of the first two parts, mainly discusses the impact of the Vietnam-US relations after normalization on the current situation in the Asia-Pacific, it prospects for the future development of Vietnam-US relations, while put forward the views that what should Chinese take measures after the normalization of relations between Vietnam and the United States.Conclusion remarks on the whole, sum up the main conclusions of the study.
