Germany is considered as an important country that has the capability to impose great influence on the European continent as well as on the world affairs both in the past and at present. The end of the Cold War and the unification of the Germany have substantially enlarged the power of Germany in terms of territory, population and economy. Withal, the collapse of the bipolar system in the mid and late 1980s ignited a number of potential conflicts which have been concealed under such system, which seriously threatened the peace and stability both at the regional level and at the international level. Therefore, various kinds of international peace operation have been playing more important role under such circumstance.Aiming at pursuing a rational conclusion, the research procedure of this thesis is based on the connection between the above mentioned aspects: Germany and the international peace operation. Based on Germany's attitude towards the international peace operations initiated by international organization such as the United Nations and the NATO, this thesis analyzed the regular patterns of German Bundswehr's (Federal Defense Force) participation in the international peace operations as well as the obstacles and difficulties Germany have overcome in this process. This research is conducive to further inspecting Germany's foreign, security and other relative policies, and can help to understand not only Germany's attitude towards the international affairs but also the international role and status of Germany in the international politics both academically and practically. As an another new perspective of this research, the thesis also intents to stimulate the research and study of other countries with similar background of Germany.
