St. John Don Bosco Prevention Education Law Practice In Mainland China

With the development of the Globalization in today, all kinds of social problems have frequently appeared. Caring for the educational problems on the younger generation, which are included in all social problems, has become more and more important and aroused the Leader in every country and educational circles to take them seriously. In our country, Premier Wen Jiabao, once had said: "Where there is first-rate education, there is a first-rate country. But we must have the education work priority to the strategic for development ... emphasizing on the quality education ... Cultivate all-round people ". Therefore, caring for the education of younger generation has a close connection with development of countries.When speaking of the youth educational problems, the Catholic may remember that Fr. St. John Don Bosco (1815-1888), a famous youth educator, who lived in the 19C, Tulin, Italy, is regarded as "Youth's Friend and Loving Father" He devoted his whole life to the youth, loved them, and took care of them, especially the poor youth. He had adopted "Preventive System in Education" which had appeared in the world before John Don Bosco and he practiced in the new ways. There are three key words in Preventive System, that is, "Reason, Religion, Love", and they influence each other closely.The people, which have studied in Salesian, Salesian Sisters, the Pious Union of Salesian Cooperators and other educational institutes, have spread into more than 130 countries, where the system is applied. When salesians went to China, they have begun the work from Macao, then Hong Kong, Mainland and Taiwan. The practice in Mainland of China was mainly focused from1911 to 1954 and then the salesian schools were closed. But the schools set up by salesians in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan have still continued till now.However, to Chinese educators, they have little knowledge on Preventive System. Therefore, the thesis will try to make systematical analyses on the theory of Don Bosco's Preventive System, do research on the educational work and social services in the Mainland of China, Hong Kong and other places, and open up the research through the analyzing on history and current situation in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan so as to learn about how salesian schools and institutes have an effect on development of Chinese society, to explain how Catholic communities today play a role in the society, then to rise more people and educators to think about it and at last, we'll give some suggestions to Chinese modern education system.
