The research on the teacher-oriented motivation mechanism has always been under the spotlight. In recent years, with the overall implementation and further advancement of another round of national curricular reform, the importance of teachers'professional development is becoming even more highlighted, which has made it especially urgent and crucial to do more researches into the motivation machanism for teacher's professional development. In recent years, among the teaching staffs of the municipal schools of Tai'an City,there have occurred many negative factors that never fit in with the brand new circumstances where the refrom of new curriculum and quality education is being carried out.However, after the practice of sunny payment system(a payment system intended for unified and regulated allowance and subsidy) adopted by the government, teachers have become obviously less motivated. Which undoubtedly has presented a new challenge to the professional development of the teachers.Thus, how to establish and better a motivation machanism for teacher's professional development is becoming a subject of research work that calls for immediate attention .This thesis, with"The Motivation Mechanism for Teacher's Professional Development"as its theme, three municipal school as its subject, starts a research and presents the reflection on the problem above by means of questionaires,interviews and documentary references.First, with Minnesota Questionaire of Degree of Satisfaction as its reference, based on the achievements of research from Ma Zhiling from Peking Teachers'University and Han Xue from Fudan University, questionaires on the research on the motivation mechanism for teacher's professioanl development were made and distributed among the three chosen municipal middle schools. Meanwhile, 12 teachers gave special interviews, thus obtaining valuable first-hand material to enrich and substantiate the content of the study. What's more, the target and effectiveness of the papper is then enforced. In addition, having referred to aboundant documentary materials, reflecting on the problems generated from the investigations, borrowing the existent achievements of the motivation mechanism, and focused on the perspective of teacher's professional development, the writer here offers some strategies about how to improve the professional development of the teachers of the municipal schools of Tai'an.This paper consists of four parts:The Introduction; Essentials of the Motivation Mechanism for Teacher's Professional Development(MMTPD), The Investigations into the Present Situation of MMTPD in Mnicipal Shools of Tai'an and the fourth part: Modifications for MMTPD in municipal schools of Tai'an, which is definitely the key part of this research.Through the investigations and researches, the author has gained some basic knowledge about the MMTPD of the municipal schools of Tai'an, which can be described as follows: though the schools have ever made some active explorations into the problem, and then taken some practically beneficial measures with certain effects achieved, there are still quite a lot of problems existing. Firstly, there is an urgent need for guidances for teachers'professional development; Secondly, there are deviations existing in the present motivation guidelines; Thirdly, the essential factors for motivation are not comprehensive enough. And fourthly there has never existed an effective environment to support teacher's professional development. Thus, by classifying all the existing peoblems and exploring the causes of the problems, the authors offers 11 targetive and operative suggestions on the improvement of the current situation, focusing on the national policies, school regulations as well as individual teachers.
