As the development of information technology and the society,more and more illustrations are used in all kinds of fields.In the field of teaching,illustration of teaching material not only covers the shortage of abstraction of text description,reproduce the knowledge,but also plays an important role in arouse interest of learning,cultivates students' ability and arouse the resonance of emotion. The author researches on illustration of primary textbooks,as followed from four parts:The first part is about history of illustration of textbooks.The author borrrow ideas from what other researches studied,what approach what angle of view they took,what conclusion they had.The second part is about actual investigation of illustration of primary Chinese textbooks.The object of study is primary Chinese textbooks for junior class.It studies proportion of illustration,classification,instructional objectives and expression of content of illustration.From those,problems of illustration design will be found.The third part is back to the height of theory.lt studies influencing factors in designing illustration,which makes foundations for giving advice.The fourth part is advice on content of illustration design to and designer and teachers.
