As to the voice of rejection of administration, ruled by professors and individual management by universities rising sharply. Currently, there is an appearance that administrative power disturbs academic affairs too much in the University of our Country; therefore the creativity and activity of professors were hold down in the area of teaching and scientific research. Professors and academic organizations on the participation in academic affairs are insufficient and the academic power can't be developed. Even though there are academic organizations in the university, most of these organizations are attached to the administration department. So to most crucial strategy, their effects are not enough. The administration officer became the main part of school management, and got involved into academic affairs too much. They ignored the attendance and the decision-making power of experts and scholars. The weakening of academic power, not only influenced the work activity and the form of academic atmosphere of scholars, but also restricted the efficiency and operating of the school management. How to settle this issue effectively becoming an important task of university management reformation.Management by professors is a traditional management concept. The National Southwest Associated University had ever implemented the management by professors and made the prestige of professors very high in the school management. To research the implementation of the National Southwest Associated University management by professors, first of all, we could try to recognize the attendance situation in terms of the school affair management, deepen the understanding of management by professors. Second, there is a vital function on improving the academic power and on restricting and supervising the administration power. Last but not least, it offers the guidance and the support for the direction of the university management reformation.Research methods are important tools of research progress. This article mainly makes use of documentation analysis, historical method and qualitative analysis to take an in-depth study. Firstly, this article cleaned up the history of management by professors to get a deeply understanding of this concept. Secondly, it analysed the rationality and boundedness of management by professors. The teaching conditions of The National Southwest Associated University were very difficult, and they suffered a huge pressure from the national government. They still implemented management by professors, respected professors and let them play an important role in the school management. It helped to form the good academic freedom atmosphere.
