In recent years, electronic games, which is characterized by virtual leisure activities, have had a profound impact on teenagers. Even it has become an entertainment,which is essential to the "digital native" with a representative of teenagers who was born in 90's. But some business games have brought negative effects on many teenagers, such as sex, violence and gambling, when these games have brought cheerful feeling to them.In order to cater to the concept of instruction and learning called "edutainment" proposed by new curriculum and, to some degree, shield commercial negative effects of business games, educational games have arised. But now there are still many problems in education game softwares, such as instructional content and game content with a curt combination, narrow instructional coverage, lack of entertainment or immersed sense, mismatch with instruction in middle school and primary school and inconvenience to the instruction in the classroom. Combination of instruction and games and creativity of play are important steps of the design stage. Therefore, these problems become focuses of this study,which are how to solve these problems mentioned and how to design a kind of instructional game applying to instruction in middle school and primary school.The design concept of "Light the game" can provides a benign theoretical framework for integrating instructional game design and discipline content; Game design theories offer a clear theoretical guidance to the design of games;introduction of Mayer's Cognitive View on Multimedia. Learning offers a clear theoretical guidance to the design of reflection. Based on these analysis, this paper discusses how to apply design principles of Multimedia Instructional to the instructional design instructional "light game" with a combination of game design theories, junior school students' characteristics, discipline characteristic and modes of instruction and learning and studies design strategies and steps of the instructional "light game", design, development and application of corresponding game cases.According research topics, this paper is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction.First,this part discusses the research background of this paper.Then, through literature research, this part introduces status of instructional game design at home and abroad and puts forward that "light game" is a future orientation of instructional game design.Finally, this part discusses research contents, research methods and research meanings.The second part expounds the theoretical basis of this research. First,this part discusses and reviews Mayer's Cognitive View on Multimedia Learning, including the theoretical basis of Cognitive View on Multimedia Learning, multimedia learning cognitive model, and three hypotheses of multimedia learning cognitive theory, nine instructional design principles and the cognitive process of multimedia learning.Then, the writer discusses the connotation and of educational games and instructional games, the relationship between them, the connotation of "light game", "light game" design and development idea and the theoretical basis of game design.Finally based on these, this part probes into the relationship between multimedia learning cognition view and "light game".The third part is the core of this paper. On the basis of analysis in earlier chapters, this section puts Mayer's Cognitive View on Multimedia Learning into the "light game" design and puts forward basic design steps of instructional "light game", including four stages:preliminary analysis of design (learning objective analysis, learning content analysis and learners' characteristics analysis), introductory game activities design (game task design, game contexts design, the rules of the game design and game feedback design), reflection after the game design (extracting reflection elements, reflection situation and activities on reflection design andproposing conclusions) and the measurement and evaluation to the learning effects.According to the design strategies and design steps,the fourth part designs game case and develops software products about "the parallelogram and its properties".The fifth part apply the game software developed in the junior class as an instructional experiment and analyse experimental datas.The last part analyse and summarizes this research, while proposing the deficiencies and follow-up research."Light game",which is an orientation of educational games'development, could have facilitation on putting games into classes.The writer hope that design strategies and basic steps proposed in this study could provides some reference for the future of the instructional game design.
