Historical figures are always active in particular geographical regions and historical events always take place in a certain geographical areas. Therefore, history is closely related to geography. As a result, history textbooks will naturally involve much geography knowledge. Taking this as a starting point, this thesis explores the application of geographical knowledge in high school history teaching and aims to further improve high school history teaching quality.The thesis consists of four chapters.Chapter one is the introduction to the present study, including the reason for the selected topic, the background and the status quo, the meaning and purpose of the study, and basic research methods.Chapter two gives a comprehensive overview about the geographical knowledge which is further divided into physical and human geography knowledge that involves in high school history textbooks (take Yuelu version as an example). Then the author provides some suggestions on the adoption of geography knowledge in high school history lessons.Chapter three presents the practical solutions to the application of geographical knowledge in high school history teaching from the teachers' perspectives. Thus poses a higher demand for the history teachers' quality. The teachers are required not only to master history and geography and other academic knowledge but also to grasp comprehensive instruction skills. Suggestions are given in terms of learning history and geography, infusion of environmental education, trainings based on relevant maps and exercises and how to arouse students' enthusiasm of inquisitive learning.In the last chapter the author puts forward several problems on application of geographical knowledge in high school history teaching that attention should be paid to and clarifies the overall purpose of geographical knowledge is to gain a better results of history teaching. Taking the lesson Aegean Civilization and Ancient Greek city-state System as a case, the author analyses the application of geographical knowledge in high school history teaching. The innovation of the paper mainly manifests in three aspects. The first one is the presentation of a comprehensive overview about the geographical knowledge in high school history textbooks. The second one is new methods are proposed on how to apply the geographical knowledge in high school history teaching. The third one is some problems that high school history teachers should pay more attention to in applying geographical knowledge are expounded in this study.
