Education is the foundation and the key of human living and development and compulsory education is the basic part of the overall education. Receiving compulsory education is the basic right of every citizen, which must be guaranteed by any law or regulation. Currently, ensuring the equity of compulsory education is the basic standing point and the starting point of realizing educational equality.The equity of compulsory education means that every child of school-age has the equal rights and opportunities of receiving compulsory education and enjoying the education process of the same quality and also getting education compensation in poor conditions to finish compulsory education. It includes three stages:the equity of the preliminary level, the equity of medium level, and the equity of the advanced level. In addition, realizing the equity of compulsory education has essential, comprehensive and guiding meanings to the construction of an affluent society and a harmonious society.This paper is divided into five parts. As an introduction, the first part is mainly to introduce the background and the significance of the research and the results reviewed at home and abroad. The second part is the theoretical basis of the article, which mainly elaborates on the relevant conceptions and the important theories, including the concepts of equity, educational equity and the equity of compulsory education. The third part is the contrastive research of status quo of the equity of compulsory education. The fourth part analyzes the reasons resulting in the problems of the equity of compulsory education, mainly from the aspects of the economic development, the educational investment, the distribution of education resources, the national policies and systems, the society classification and the systems of operating school and so on. The last part is to suggest the measures of advancing the equity of compulsory education in hope that these measures will have impact on the practice of the equity of compulsory education. These measures are:to change the old notion and strengthen the obligations and functions of the government; to make the system of education treasury perfect, do best for the work of education compensation; to improve relevant laws and regulations about compulsory education; to regulate the behaviors for school operation; to set up the mechanism of supervision; to improve the system of educational personnel management and teachers' floating; to reinforce the rule of the Headmaster's taking turns for work and boost the standard of management; to improve and reform policies about education held by communities and so on.
