An ordinary lake called Khaltar Nuur (Dappled Lake in English) locates on the grassland of herdsman Suyal in Alashan East Banner has been built as national AAAA tourist resort by the local government through attracting investment. As the original Mongolian name Khaltar Nuur is not persuasive to be translated to Chinese, it was renamed a new Chinese Name YueLiang Hu (Moon Lake) in the light of its contour. The tourist resort has built lots of European type of wooden buildings and changed the landscape around. Based on firsthand materials from fieldwork research, the thesis analyses the landscape changes of Khaltar Nuur from perspective of landscape theory, in order to observe the influence of market, enterprise, nation and mainstream culture to the regional culture of minorities' area.The thesis consists of four parts including introduction, main body (three chapters), conclusion and appendix. In the introduction, the author gives an account of the project proposal, the reason and meaning of the subject, previous studies and research methodology. First chapter introduces the geographic location, landscape character of the Khaltar Nuur, and describes the intention and procedure of exploiting Moon Lake. The second chapter discusses the changes of natural landscape as well as (?)ultural landscape of the Khaltar Nuur, and pays attention to the effect of andscape changes over environment, culture and people. Third chapter nvestigates the reasons for landscape changes of Khaltar Nuur from hree aspects: social background of emphasizing economic development, nfluence of enterprise and government, effect of mainstream cultures. In (?)onclusion, the author summarizes the influence of changes of landscape ind place name over local people, environment and culture.
