Biology is one of the natural course science based on observation, experiments, exploration and so on. Moreover, it is a practical subject. In biology teaching, students’ ability is put on high emphasis, by means of experiments, exploration activities and building models. Catering to all the students, biology teaching should pay attention to improving students’ capacity of applying the knowledge of biology as well as advocating inquiry learning.Now, Jiangsu province is carrying out regularization of running schools and bringing five strict regulations of quality education into effect that is to reduce burden and increase efficiency. In this situation, in our changzhou, Biology is excluded from the courses in Entrance Examination to the Senior High School. So the students, their parents, even some teachers and schools take no count of it. Given this ground, in order to cultivate talents of the21st century, we choose to do some research on extracurricular development activities. For one thing, students become more interested in study. Their ability of observation and doing experiments are greatly improved along with scientific exploration and innovation, in which case they become more efficient in class. For another, in the process, it’s meaningful for students to develop their values of life about cherishing their life.Aimed at improving students’ exploring ability and expanding their knowledge, we make use of local resources of biology to carry out some after-school activities according to students’ demand, interests and ability. Making use of local resources of biology.Biological extracurricular development activities come in different forms. Students can choose them freely. In a word, any form helpful to students’ counts. The forms of the activities in this passage can be classified into the followings: experimentation, survey, biological culture, DIY, lecture, and publicity.This article is based on two classes in Changzhou No.24Middle School. The experimental group conducts biological extracurricular development activities among junior school students as planned. The compared group doesn’t do any development activities. To analysis data, we make use of the weekly school-based courses, open-laboratory system, building household laboratories, social practice, patriarchal assistance, classroom observation and some other ways. Meanwhile, we also make use of questionnaires, interviewing method, field observation and so on. Then we find that through a period of extracurricular development activities, the students have more interest in Biology study. In addition the atmosphere in class has been improved, reaching "the Goal in3Aspects" in class and forming the concept of biological science. The scientific exploring abilities of the students have been increased. The scope of the students’ knowledge has been enriched. What’s more, the students now have different opinions about life, forming the view of life and values of loving life and cherishing life. This reflects that the extracurricular development activities have great effect on our Biology teaching.
