The local history is also called the place history, the local chronicle. The local history is a kind of history studies which only studies the narrow and small local scope, different from the national history or the world history. We can say the history with the unique local characteristics and the rich local life breath belongs to the local historical category. It generally includes historical archives, history documentation literature, local history, family tree, the family pedigree, history novel and so on.Local history teaching takes deep local color and local interest, the middle school students have warm feeling and sense of identity, the local history teaching can not only enhance the students’interest of learning history, but also can develop education quality of teaching,we should construct the curriculum content positively according to the situation in his area. We should study how to enhance the junior middle school students’ interest of learning history effectively using the ways of teaching and activities reasonably and the fervor of loving their hometown, raise students’mental skills, strengthen the enthusiasm and self-consciousness of opening the local history curriculum in this area further, enhance the feasibility, the vitality of the local history teaching to promote its extension.In the aspect of the present situation of local history teaching, although educational authorities issued Jiangsu history before, but only limited in surface and form. Because this course is not associated with High school entrance exams, many schools have not opened this course. In recent years, school lesson research is popular in this field, many schools began efforts to study local culture, although the campus curriculum resources construction has got certain result, it lacks the local characteristics. A part of teachers try to carry on some local curriculum resource development, but most of them put emphasis on surface level. In the junior middle school local history teaching, the status of history teaching cannot be taken seriously fully. The teaching value and function are underestimated. The local history resources cannot be excavated fully.The local history curriculum resource development should the development of the elementary knowledge as the longitude, take the development of the special history as the latitude, and construct the development pattern which weaves latitude and longitude together. We should promote the local humanities resource development using the local historical data development, rich local historical data development using the local humanities resource development, unify the local historical data development with the investigative study of history, rich local history resources using the investigative study, lead the investigative study using the local history resource development. We should unify the social strength development with the Education administrative department, the research organization, and the school development, and use the social existing resources effectively. The excavation of the local history resources should utilize the effective resources, such as famous ruins, the vestiges, the elder’s narrations, the old pictures, the genealogy, the local chronicle and so on. Simultaneously we must use the alternation teaching method, the visit teaching method, the special teaching method, the experience teaching method, the dialogue teaching method, the research teaching method, the comprehensive teaching method to do well in the countryside junior middle school history teaching.Classroom’s teaching about local history carries on mainly through the establishment of history museum, interspersed teaching, visiting and so on, the essay starts from specific cases, and let students recognize the importance of local history culture teaching.
