| As urbanization continuously accelerates the pace of life, biology teachers have to bear the living pressure which is increasing over time, and gradually becomes teacher burnout. This study is on the burnout of high school biology teachers in Nanjing and the factors of different burnout degrees. The author applied questionnaire survey in the study.30high school biology teachers in Nanjing were engaged in the pilot test, and then85biology teachers in Nanjing High schools were engaged in the formal survey which is modified according to the findings of pilot test. The results can be concluded as follows:①The burnout degree of Nanjing high school biology teachers is between level1and level2.(the burnout has7levels, ranging from0to6)②Burnout is divided into three aspects, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and low sense of accomplishment, in which the low sense of accomplishment is the most serious aspect.③Teachers in charge of a class suffer more burnout than other biology teachers.④Among all the biology teachers, male teachers suffer more burnout than female teachers.⑤Biology teachers who have worked for5-10years suffer the most burnout.⑥Biology teachers whose professional qualification is at stage one suffer the most burnout.⑦Biology teachers whose income ranges from3000to4000yuan suffer the most burnout.⑧Biology teachers whose only child is between6and12years old suffer the most burnout among all the one child teachers.⑨Socio-economic pressure is the main cause of the burnout of biology teachers.Several conclusions can be drawn from above survey results:Firstly, Nanjing biology teachers are in good professional condition, but they are lack of sense of personal achievement to some extent. Secondly, among all the biology teachers, most of them are female, which doesn’t necessarily have a bad influence on the biology teaching. Thirdly, We should pay more attention to the teachers who are in charge of class, those who have low salary and who have worked for5-10years, so as to reduce the overall burnout degree of biology teachers. |
