Survival skills include physiological needs, communication needs, security needsof life and labor needs. According to the law of the unique physical and mentaldevelopment and educational needs, survival skills include four aspects of personalself-care skills, communication skills, life skills and work skills. Research survivalskills of students with intellectual disabilities and needs, special education teachers,doctors, psychologists, social workers help students build harmonious relationships,and develop good social adaptation.By a self-designed questionnaire, select126students with intellectual disabilities,the survey involved self-care skills, communication skills, life skills and work skillssecurity. Combined with interviews, analysis of four students with intellectualdisabilities in survival skills. For special education teachers to grasp the survival skillsof students with intellectual disabilities to help them build basic skills and improve thequality of life put forward feasible suggestions.The results show that: the four aspects of survival skills, self-care skills are best,followed by communication skills and life skills, work skills is the worst. With theincrease in years of education, the mental retardation students master skills gettingbetter and better. Students with mild mental retardation is the best, followed by the moderate students, students with mild mental retardation is the worst. Little differencebetween boys and girls.The Educational Suggestion: consolidation of life, strengthen work skills training;based on students’ physical and mental development, to meet the different needs ofstudents with intellectual disabilities degrees; correct understanding of genderdifferences in students with intellectual disabilities, and carry out life-skills training;respect for individual grade differences, different levels of development to meet theneeds of students; family, school and community environments coordination andcooperation, and promote the survival skills of students with intellectual disabilities.
