From the classroom to the society, due to the lack of social skills of people with intellectual disabilities,it is often difficult to show behaviors that are compatible with the surrounding environment, which leads to the rejection and a small degree of acceptance by the surrounding people. This prolonged isolation and exclusion will cause serious harm to themselves and society. But this ability is not unlearned, and early training in social skills to improve their behavior can help reduce harm. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore the efficacy of social skills training on improving classroom adaptive behaviors of students with intellectual disabilities. The research subjects were two students with moderate intellectual disabilities. In this study,A-B-A single baseline design was used in social adaptation course, where the social skills training was conducted. The goal is to study the four target behaviors, including“raised hand and said”?“kept quiet in class” ? “completed assigned tasks” ? “corrected posture”.Using the“target behavior checklist”,we analyzed the subjects' adaptive behaviors in classroom with visual analysis and c-statistic.In addition, qualitative interview was used to understand the scenario generalization of their target behaviors.Through interviews with teachers and peers,we understand the subjects' performances in class and how they think about the training project outcomes. The results of this study are as follows:1.The social skills training has an immediate effect on the students with intellectual disabilities regarding their four adaptive behaviors, including“raised hand and said”?“kept quiet in class”?“completed assigned tasks”?“corrected posture”.2.The social skills training has an lasting effect on the students with intellectual disabilities regarding their four adaptive behaviors, including “raised hand and said”?“kept quiet in class”?“completed assigned tasks”?“corrected posture”.3.The social skills training has a scenario generalization effect on the students with intellectual disabilities regarding their two adaptive behaviors, including“raised hand and said”?“kept quiet in class”.But the two subjects exhibit effects of “completed assigned tasks”that are not quite the same, and the two subjects exhibit effects of“corrected posture”are not significant.4.The social skills training can improve the adaptive behaviors of students with intellectual disabilities in class, and has got the positive appraisal by teachers and peers.Based on the above results, the effectiveness of social skills training intervention, the objects and contents of intervention were discussed. Some suggestions are put forward, such as integrating social skills training into daily courses, applying the cue ards in the generalization class, adding students' IEP,properly applying the reinforcement system and tracking the generalization results in various ways.
